SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — The silent film "The Passion of Joan of Arc" will be presented along with a live oratorio Sunday, March 3, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mark's School in Southborough.
The performance features the Assabet Valley Mastersingers in a program titled "Voices of Light."
The 1928 film was lost for decades before being rediscovered in the 1980s, when Richard Einhorn began working on the oratorio that he would premiere in 1994.
The Mastersingers will be joined by four vocal soloists: soprano Jean Danton, mezzo Jacque Wilson, tenor William Hite and baritone Robert Honeysucker. They will also be joined by an orchestra and the Worcester Children's Chorus.
Before the concert, John J. Michalczyk, a filmmaker and professor of fine arts at Boston College, will give a 30-minute lecture.
Tickets may be purchased at Robinson Music Company in Westborough, Shattuck’s Pharmacy in Northborough, Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union in Shrewsbury, English Garden Florist in Southborough, Robinson’s Hardware in Hudson and Joy-Den Jewelers and Main Street Café in Marlborough. Tickets may also be purchased online.
Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for seniors and students.
