NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Here's a quick roundup of what's going on in Northborough and the surrounding area this weekend. Check out our Events page for even more things to do.

Friday, Dec. 7

Girls' Varsity Basketball: 5:30 p.m. The girls will kick off their season against Marlborough at home.

Boys' Varsity Basketball: 7 p.m. The boys will kick off their season against Marlborough at home.

King Philip's War: 7:30 p.m. The Northborough Historical Society will host its “Puritans, Praying Indians and King Philip’s War” program, presented by Marlborough Historical Society trustee Paul Brodeur.

Saturday, Dec. 8

Indoor Track Varsity Invitational: 9 a.m. Algonquin will compete with area high schools at Wachusett Regional High School.

Varsity Wrestling Tournament: 9 a.m. Algonquin will face King Philip Regional at King Philip Regional High School.

K-9 Fundraiser: 10 a.m. Companion Pet Sitting/K9 Hydrotherapy is partnering with local law enforcement to raise money to buy a bullet-proof vest for Shrewsbury’s veteran police dog, Buzzy, during “Pictures with Santa,” at K9 Hydrotherapy, 367 W. Main St., Northborough. Award-winning photographer Jeffery Baker of Visions by Baker, Worcester, is donating his services for the fundraiser. Area residents are invited to have their pets’ photos taken with Santa (Buzzy's handler, Shrewsbury Patrolman Chad Chysna). Digital photographs of varying sizes will be available immediately for purchase. Girl Scout Holiday Shop: 10 a.m. Girl Scouts will sell food and crafts at $5 or less at the First Parish Church Unitarian Universalist.

Holiday Concert: 11:30 a.m. The Assabet Valley Chambersingers will perform at the Northborough Library, singing traditional carols, madrigals and jazz.

Library Book Sale: Noon. Fiction of all kinds will be on sale at the Northborough Library, as well as a small selection of children's books and non-fiction.

Varsity Swim Meet: 4:30 p.m. The team will face Northbridge at Whitins Community Center

Holiday Tree Lighting: 5:30 p.m. The annual tree lighting will be in the center of town in honor of Neil Ellsworth, who was killed in Vietnam in 1967.

Girls' Varsity Ice Hockey: 8:30 p.m. Algonquin will play Wellesley at Wellesley High School.

Sunday, Dec. 9

Santa Visit: Noon. Santa will visit the First Parish Church Unitarian Universalist. All are welcome.
