What's Happening In Northborough This Weekend?

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — It's one of the biggest weekends of the year, and with nice weather to boot. Here's a look at some weekend events in Northborough and the surrounding area:

Friday, Sept. 14

  • ApplefestDespite some setbacks, Applefest is underway all weekend. On Friday, check out the Applefest Bake-Off at the Northborough Senior Center at noon and the Applefest Magic Show at Melican Middle School at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 15

  • Applefest: What's on the Applefest menu today, you ask? How about the 5K Road Race, the Northborough Library Book Sale and the Annual Street Fair, all beginning at 10 a.m. The race starts and ends at the Zeh School; the street fair is held at Algonquin Regional High School. Over 100 participants will be at the street fair, including food and craft vendors. For more information, click the attached press release below.
  • Yard Sale Fundraiser: A team that will be walking the UMass Medicine Cancer Walk on Sept. 23 in Worcester will be hosting a yard sale starting at 8 a.m. at 162 Cordaville Road in Southborough.
  • River Cleanup: Sponsored by OARS, the 26th Annual River Cleanup focuses on the Assabet, Concord and Sudbury rivers. This year, teams of volunteers will work along the banks in Northborough and Westborough, among other towns. The cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. and last until noon.
  • Algonquin Football: Originally scheduled for Friday, the Tomahawks will play their home opener against Wachusett at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Sunday, Sept. 16

  • Applefest: To finish off another Applefest, look for the Classic Car Show at the Northborough Shopping Plaza, beginning at 8 a.m. Also, don't forget to stop by the ice cream social at the Northborough Historical Society at noon.
  • Pancake Breakfast: Boy Scout Troop 1 of Northborough will hold its annual pancake breakfast at the Vincent F. Picard American Legion, 402 West Main St., from 7 to 11 a.m. Tickets are $5 per person up to $20 per family and can be purchased at the door.
