NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — The Friends of the Northborough Library is collecting donations to support libraries damaged by Hurricane Sandy in October.
So far, the group has collected $107, which will be sent to the Rebuilding New Jersey’s Libraries Fund with the NJ Library Association.
"Although libraries are a small portion of any town's budget and account for only a tiny fraction of the damage done by the storm, they are vital to the life an any community," Friends member Ellen Church said in an email to The Daily Voice. "Libraries provide information, access to computers, truly free wi-fi, a meeting spot, activities and entertainment for families and education services for all."
The group will continue its collection until Jan. 21. Collection boxes can be found at the reference desk and the children's room at the Northborough Library.
