NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — The Central Mass. Tobacco-Free Community Partnership is seeking ex-smokers in Northborough who wish to share their experiences with quitting.
Those who join the "Ex-Smokers' Hall of Fame" can share their stories with local smokers who are struggling to quit. The Ex-Smokers' Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Massachusetts Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Program.
"We know that quitting smoking is one of the most important decisions a person can make to positively impact their health," Project Coordinator Tina Grosowski said.
Its also a difficult one. Though tobacco use is on the decline in the United Stages, more than 45 million adults smoke or use tobacco products, according to the Massachusetts Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Program.
However, Hall of Fame participants "serve as a role model to people who want to quit," Grosowski said.
Those who participate will have their stories posted on display boards set up at Northborough Town Hall and the Northborough Free Library.
Those who wish to participate may contact Grosowski at 508-856-5067 or at Tina.Grosowsky@umassmed.edu.
