NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — As part of the annual Summer Concert Series hosted by the Northborough Community Affairs Committee, three local groups will be playing free outdoor shows at Ellsworth-McAfee Park in August.
The groups are:
• Abandon Jack, which was originally scheduled to play July 26 before bad weather canceled the show, will perform Thursday, Aug. 2. The group is fronted by Jack Shanahan, owner of Jack's Guitar Garage on 243 W. Main St., Northborough, and plays a range of styles from blues to rock to pop.
• The Michael Cleary Band will play Thursday, Aug. 9. This group, which hails from Hartford, has been playing groove, funk and rock music "with a twist" for more than 20 years.
• Delhill will play Thursday, Aug. 23, performing rock that is a combination of "the grit of My Morning Jacket, the fearless harmonies of the Beatles and the funk grooves of the Red Hot Chili Peppers."
All shows run from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnic suppers.
In addition to the Community Affairs Committee, other sponsors of the series are the Marlborough Savings Bank, Brendon Properties and Lexus of Northborough. The series is also supported in part by a grant from the Northborough Cultural Council.
