NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Although Northborough went most of the day without any power outages, National Grid began reporting losses late Monday afternoon.
Outages have been reported to the Northborough Police Department on the following streets:
- Route 20 (between Summer Street and the Marlborough line)
- East Main Street
- Little Pond Raod
- River Street
- Hudson Street
- Hemlock Drive
- Whitney Street
- Bartlett Street
- Sunset Drive
- Maple Street
- Northgate Road
- Davis Street
- Crestwood Drive
- Davis Avenue
- South Street (Summer Street to the Westborough line)
- Kendall Drive
- Garrison Circle
- Alcott Drive
- Jethro Peters Lane
- Thaddeus Mason Road
- Jacob Cobb Lane
- Samuel Gamwel Road
- Mayflower Road
- Jefferson Road
- Washington Road
- Greenwood Road
- Brookside Lane
- Village Drive
- Assabet Drive
- Beverly Road
- Cedar Hill Road (From South St to #35)
- Elmwood Drive
- Park Street
- Winn Street
National Grid says it was still assessing conditions in the area. It was not yet clear when power would be restored.

This is ridiculous. In Northborough, I have not seen power outages for the last 30 years except last few years. This is 21st century where technology is moving fast but our electrical infrastructure is moving backward. No one can avoid unfortunate natural disasters, but we should be prepared. Why companies can not start laying underground wiring or cut trees unreachable to power lines? It is time now to fix responsibility. The company and town officials should be accountable and punishable by law if such things happen again.
