NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Two people have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a Worcester man, which led to an extensive investigation this week at Motel 6 on Rte. 9.
James Howze, 19, of 37 Harvard Avenue, Providence, R.I. and Lara Cori, 22, of 27 Boston Turnpike Road, Westborough, were arrested in Colonie, N.Y., Wednesday night on fugitive from justice charges, according to a statement from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
In Massachusetts, Howze faces charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon (knife) and larceny of a motor vehicle. Corey is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.
The victim, Joseph P. Webster, 19, of 104 Brattle St., Worcester was reported missing on March 14 by his family, the DA's office said. He remains missing.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the two suspects and the victim were together in a room at Motel 6 on Rte. 9, the statement said. Room 214 of that motel was searched on Tuesday and evidence was seized. An extensive investigation in Worcester, Northborough and Providence, R.I. led to seeking of warrants for the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects were traced to Colonie, a suburb of Albany, N.Y. Wednesday night. While state police detectives were on their way to Upstate New York, Colonie Police located the suspects at a hotel and arrested them.
The District Attorney’s Office is coordinating their rendition to Massachusetts to face the charges in Westborough District Court. The investigation, led by the State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, is continuing.
