WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Frances M. Powers of Westborough died Jan. 3 at UMass Memorial Healthcare University Hospital in Worcester. She was 86.
Born May 19, 1926, in Oxford, Conn., Powers was the daughter of John and Frances Polubinskas Katunas. Educated in Holden schools, she attended Worcester State Teachers College. She was married to Bernard C. Powers, who predeceased her.
Powers worked as a public school teacher for the Northborough Public School System for many years. She was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church and lived in Westborough most of her life.
She is survived by a nephew, Gary (Denise) Katunas, of Chicago; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Katunas, of Buzzards Bay. She was predeceased by a brother, Walter Katunas.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at St. Luke the Evangelist Church. Westborough Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
