NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Adelbert "Sam" L. d'Entremont, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after an illness surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Cecelia "Ceil" A. (Mosesso) d'Entremont; two sons, Mark d'Entremont and his wife Susan of Worcester, Paul d'Entremont and his wife Elizabeth of Waltham; a granddaughter, Ruby d'Entremont; two sisters, Catherine Bennett and her husband Walter of Tampa, Fla., Pauline Surette and her husband Charles of Dracut; many nieces and nephews. Sam is predeceased by a brother Leonard d'Entremont and a sister Geraldine d'Entremont.
Born in Reading, raised in Gardner, son of the late Pius L. and Esther d'Entremont, he lived in Northborough for the last 51 years. Sam graduated from Gardner High School in 1947 and went on to receive a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University in 1956. He worked for the Telegram & Gazette as a copy editor and reporter for 33 years, retiring in 1989.
Following his retirement he worked as a standardized patient at UMass Medical School, Shrewsbury office. Sam enjoyed his time as an actor at Stageloft Repertory Theater in Sturbridge. He was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Parish and was a past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Sam was a Civil War buff. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Aug. 17, from 4-8 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Sam's funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 18, at 9 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main St., Northborough.
