Obituary: Albina H. ‘Barbara’ Mancus, 90

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Albina H. ‘Barbara’ Mancus, of Northborough, died on her 90 birthday, September 23, 2012, at Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough, after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank C. Mancuso, who died in 2005. She is also is also predeceased by her daughter Cynthia Johnson; a brother, Walter Neske and two sisters, Anne Plude and Julia Prindiville.

She leaves her son-in-law, Dr. Larry Johnson of Harrisville, RI; her grandchildren, Kathleen Kwiatkoski of PA; Atty Stephen Johnson of Manhattan.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Albin and Helen (Kalanta) Neske and
Barbara was raised in Worcester and attended the Ward School of Business for typing/speed writing instructions . She also attended seminars and lectures on personnel management and business administration at Fitchburg State College. Barbara worked as a cafeteria manager in the Northborough School Department from 1957 to 1970. She then worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Dept. of Public Welfare in Medicaid Quality Control before retiring in 1984.


Barbara enjoyed shopping, working in her yard and talking with everyone she met. She was also an avid Celtics fan.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 27, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Southborough. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima, 244 West Main St, Northborough. Burial will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery in Westborough.
