NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - John Joseph Danckert, 84, passed away on Nov. 4 at Iredell Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born May 8, 1928 in Worcester County to the late John J. Danckert, Sr. and Eleanor A. Quist Danckert.
Danckert graduated in 1946, from Northborough High School. He served in the US Army in the Quartermaster Corp. during the Army of Occupation and the Korean War. He retired as a sales representative of A. B. Dick Company in 1985 and moved to Statesville.
He was an avid bridge player. He was also a member of the Church of St. Philip the Apostle.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor "Betty" Danckert.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Migliozzi Danckert; children, Sharon Danckert Smith and husband Allen of Statesville, Michael Danckert and wife Marjie of Raleigh, Mark Danckert and wife Laura of Pleasanton, Cal.; grandchildren, Jennifer J. Smith and special friend Duncan Holzworth of Statesville, Joseph P. Danckert and Jessica M. Danckert of Pleasanton, Cal., Timm Brightside of Arizona, Danielle Smith Cady and husband Captain Stephen Cady of Fayetteville, Joshua Smith and fiancée Christin Kolstad of Greenville, S.C.; great grandchildren, William and Mason Cady of Fayetteville.
The funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 7, at the Church of St. Philip the Apostle. Father Kurt Fohn and Deacon Mathew Riely will officiate. The burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the mass at the church.
