WORCESTER, Mass. - Maryellen Katherine (Burns) Rose, 60, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
She is survived by her two children; Matthew A. and his wife, Vicki Rose of Mooresville NC, and Jodie Rose and her husband, Jonah Katz of Berkeley CA, two granddaughters Sidney and Alexandra; a brother, Jack Burns; two sisters Joanne Casey and Katherine Drummond and large extended family. She was predeceased by her sister Christine Burns.
Maryellen was born in 1952 in Worcester to the late Arthur Leo Burns and Ann Theresa (Sullivan) Burns. Maryellen was raised in Northborough and was a graduate of Marian High School and Saint Vincent School of Nursing. She practiced nursing until her retirement in 2006.
She was a dedicated, generous, and loving mother and grandmother. Maryellen was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren, delighting in their accomplishments as if they were her own, and feeling their disappointments just as keenly. In recent years Maryellen was an active member of Genesis House in Worcester, whose staff and members became a second family to her.
A Funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 14 from Callahan and Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St. Burial will be private. Visiting Hours are Thursday, Sept. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
