NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — The Northborough Daily Voice accepts letters to the editor. Signed letters may be e-mailed to bmatthew@dailyvoice.

To the editor:

In recent months, the Northborough Food Pantry has seen a steady increase in the number of families utilizing the pantry. At the same time, we have experienced a large decrease in the amount of donated food we received, resulting in empty shelves at the pantry. Last month, the word got out (through newspaper articles, Facebook, word of mouth, etc.) that we were in need of food donations. The community’s reaction has been overwhelming! Local businesses, clubs, organizations, neighborhoods, and individuals have responded with food and financial donations steadily coming into the pantry. On behalf of all the families we serve at the Northborough Food Pantry, we would like to thank the following for their generosity:

  • AREVA Corp. Marlborough
  • Northborough Hash House Harriers
  • Northborough Library staff and patrons
  • Jamie Terry, Northborough Health Agent
  • Walmart
  • The Pickle-Haus Deli
  • Festive Breads
  • The Northborough Junior Women’s Club
  • BJ’s Wholesale Club
  • Northborough Mom’s and Tots
  • Algonquin Regional High School Student Council
  • Church Street Village Condominiums
  • Northborough Dental Associates
  • The Goddard School

The Northborough Food Pantry currently services 75 families a week, providing supplemental food, paper products and personal care items to residents in need. We also deliver food and baby products to families residing in the Econolodge Inn & Suites, awaiting permanent housing. We are run solely by volunteers—over 135 currently—enabling us to apply all donations directly to servicing our clients. For more information on the pantry, please go to our website or visit us on Facebook.

Sincerely,

Ann Taggart and Sarah Rothery

Co-Directors, Northborough Food Pantry
