NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — A Westborough man was arrested after allegedly trying to break into an abandoned building on West Main Street, Northborough police said Thursday.
Christopher Shaw, 31, of 33 Hopkinton Road, was charged with breaking and entering in the daylight, trespassing and possession of burglarious instruments after police found him outside the building at 39 W. Main St.
Shaw was near the back of the building and trying to hide something when officers approached at about 11:30 a.m., police said. Upon confronting Shaw, officers found a crowbar, a hacksaw, gloves, two pipe-cutting tools, rope and a bungee cord in his possession, police said.
Police later discovered a smashed window near the back door of the building.
He was wearing two pairs of socks, two pairs of pants and a sweatshirt on a 74-degree day, police said. Shaw was taken to Westborough District Court.
