NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Northborough police are warning residents of three phone scams they discovered last week.
The scams are as follows:
- An individual reportedly is calling local merchants to solicit money for the "Northborough Drug Task Force," which police say does not exist. The caller may be using a 305 area code.
- A caller reportedly is targeting the elderly by calling their home phones and telling them they have won $50,000. The caller then asks the individual to wire them $400 for a processing fee, promising the $50,000 will be delivered within three to five business days. The caller may be using a 561 area code.
- A caller is calling the elderly, using the name of the individual's grandson or granddaughter. The caller tells them he/she is having a problem out of state and needs some money wired.
Northborough police are warning residents not to send any money if they receive these or any similar phone calls.

I'm not sure if they related but I got this call from a phone number with 305 area code. The phone number was 305-510-5298 but it was a totally different scam. The lady said I got picked in a drawing and will receive $1000 gift card. All I needed was to pay the processing fee of $100.
