Police: Drunk Driver Causes Northborough Power Outage

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Northborough police arrested a Worcester man Thursday who allegedly crashed his car into a Church Street utility pole and caused a power outage in the area for several hours.

Matthew Hale, 30, 75 Prospect St., Worcester, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and operating negligently so as to endanger. Hale also was charged with a marked lanes violation.

Hale was travelling north along Church Street when his car veered off the right side of the road into a nearby utility pole just before 2 p.m., police said. He was transported to Marlborough Hospital following his arrest.
