NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Two Southborough residents were arraigned Wednesday in Westborough District Court on charges of buying and selling marijuana in Northborough.

Michael J. O'Hare, 17, of 10 Carolyn Terrace, and Matthew Cvitkovich, 18, of 22 Deerfoot Road, were charged with possession of a class D drug, possession with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug law and distribution of a class D drug.

The two conducted their first drug transaction in the area around 270 Main St. in Northborough, according to Detective Sgt. Brian Griffin. In his report, Griffin wrote that two people in a blue Saab parked outside a closed business in the Northborough Shopping Plaza and were approached by someone on foot. The people appeared to have an exchange before the pedestrian walked away, Griffen wrote.

Cvitkovich and O'Hare drove to another closed business in the Northborough Shopping Plaza and met another pedestrian, the report said. Again, Griffin wrote that they appeared to have an exchange.

According to the report, when Griffin stopped the car, Cvitkovich — the driver — admitted to purchasing marijuana from the first person. He did not admit to selling any.

A gallon-sized plastic bag half-filled with marijuana and a plastic water bottle containing more bags of the drug were found in the car, according to the report, along with $60 in cash in the vehicle's console area and another $60 in cash carried by Cvitkovich.

Both suspects denied ownership of the large bag of marijuana, though Cvitkovich admitted to owning the marijuana stored in the water bottle, Griffin said in the report.

The second person the pair had met was later found and admitted to purchasing $60 worth of marijuana from the pair, the report said.

Cvitkovich and O'Hare were released on personal recognizance and are due back in Westborough District Court on Nov. 2.
