UPDATE: Northborough Man Struck On I-290 Expected To Survive

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — State police are reporting that a 42-year-old Northborough man was struck by a tractor trailer on Route 290 westbound in Northborough this morning.

According to the preliminary investigation, the man pulled his 2000 Honda Civic into the breakdown lane and walked into the travel lane for unknown reasons. He was then hit by the tractor trailer.

Police have not yet released the name of the man, who was transported to UMass Medical Center for treatment and is expected to survive.

The right and middle lanes of Route 290 westbound were closed in Northborough for about two hours this morning. The State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Photo are assisting in the investigation
