UPDATE: Paving Scheduled Released For Oct. 16–18

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Northborough police are warning motorists to avoid the center of town on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Oct. 16–18) due to paving on Route 20 between Summer Street and Monument Drive. Police expect significant delays.

The three-day paving schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, Oct. 16

  • 8:30–11 a.m. — Paving will begin on the westbound lane of Route 20 from School Street to just west of South Street. All westbound traffic will be detoured onto Summer Street, to Northgate Road, to Davis Street and back onto Route 20 west. Eastbound traffic will proceed normally. All residences and businesses from School Street to West Main Street will be affected.
  • 11 a.m.–12 p.m. — Paving will begin on West Main Street from South Street west to Church Street. All residences and businesses from School Street to West Main Street will be affected.
  • 12–3 p.m. — Paving will occur from Church Street westbound to Monument Drive. All residences and businesses from Church Street to Monument Drive will be affected.
Wednesday, Oct. 17
  • Paving will continue from School Street west to the midpoint of the Church Street intersection. All westbound traffic will be redirected to Summer Street, to South Street, to Northgate Road, to Davis Street to Route 20 west. All eastbound truck traffic will be redirected at Southwest Cutoff and Davis Street to Northgate Road, to South Street, to Summer Street and back onto Route 20 east. All businesses and residences from School Street to West Main Street will be affected.
Thursday, Oct. 18
  • Paving will occur from Monument Drive eastbound to the midpoint of the Church Street intersection. All westbound Route 20 traffic will be redirected to South Street, to Northgate Road, to Davis Street and back onto Route 20 west. Westbound traffic heading toward Church Street and I-290 will be able to do so. All businesses and residences between Church Street and Monument Drive will be affected.

Road closures and detour will be posted between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. Detail police officers will be on hand to assist motorists.
