NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Sure, the kids might not have been happy about waking up early, but all in all it was a beautiful day for them to go back to school in Northborough and Southborough.
Rumors of late buses aside, in general students seemed to have no problem getting to class, meeting new teachers and making the new friendships that come with every school year.
"It went very, very well," Northborough-Southborough Superintendent Charles Gobron said. "In all the schools, kids seemed happy to be back."
"It was nice to see students in the buildings again," he added.
Over at the Zeh School in Northborough, principal Susan Whitten put the cloudless sunshine in context while she waited outside for new students to get off their buses.
"You know, I think about those poor kids in New Orleans," Whitten said, referring to the effects of Hurricane Isaac. "You can't complain."
