SHREWSBURY, Mass, — The Algonquin boys varsity basketball team came out strong at Shrewsbury in the first period Tuesday and never let up, winning 59-41.
“We're an up-tempo team,” Algonquin coach Brian Doherty said. “Our goal is to run, run, run. We're going to play in-your-face, man-to-man defense. That's how we play.”
Tuesday's win gives Algonquin a 13-1 record, which Doherty attributed to his team's chemistry. “These guys all get along — they enjoy it.”
Shrewsbury's record dropped to 6-9.
