NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - The Algonquin Athletic Boosters will complete the silent auction of six signs for five state championship-winning teams at the Boys Varsity Basketball game on Friday.
The signs for the 2004 and 2005 Boys Soccer teams, the 2006 Boys Baseball team, the 2009 Girls Soccer team and the 2009 Girls Tennis team have become worn after years along the roads entering Northborough and Southborough. The goal of the auction, which began during the Girls Varsity Basketball game on Dec. 9, is to raise money to help defray the costs of the new championship banners that hang along the road leading to Algonquin Regional High School.
"We felt it was the best avenue to offer [the signs] to as many people as possible," said Sue Kane, a Booster member who is running the auction.
Auction winners will be contacted either after the game or on Saturday morning, and will be able to pick up the signs on Saturday morning at the high school.
