NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Algonquin Varsity Baseball team, which made it all the way to the Division 1 State Championship this year despite being the last-seeded team in its playoff division, has been ranked No. 5 out of 25 in ESPN Boston's final poll of MIAA baseball teams.
"The last seed in D1 Central got the last laugh," wrote ESPN Boston, "upsetting two dangerous squads in St. John's (Shrewsbury) and Westfield to make its third state final appearance since 2006."
According to ESPN Boston, the poll was put together with input from its staff writers, correspondents and area coaches.
