'Mindful Meditation' Classes Offered At Pound Ridge Library POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- The Pound Ridge Library is offering free "Mindful Meditation" classes on Tuesdays throughout November and much of December.The classes urge participants to take part in mindfulness meditation, which, according to the library, has been known to lower stress, improve mental and physical health and help people sleep better at night. The first class was offered Nov. 10. Additional classes will be offered on Nov. 17 and 24, and on Dec. 1, 8 and 15. 'IRS' Phone Scam May Become More Aggressive, Police Say New York State Police are warning that telephone scammers who have raised the suspicions of several residents may become more aggressive as the holidays approach The scam callers, who claim to be from the IRS, demand money from the victims while threatening criminal charges, according to police. The public is advised that the IRS does not make such telephone calls in this manner. Anyone who may receive such a call should notify the authorities immediately

Three Teens Arrested After Armed Robbery In Greenburgh GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Three teens have been arrested in connection with the knife-point robbery of a 20-year-old man at 55 West Hartsdale Ave., according to police.Jorge Culcay, 18, of 49 Fairmont St., Elmsford, Roberto Robles, 17, of 75 North Washington Ave., Hartsdale and a 15-year-old whom police did not name, are accused of committing the robbery about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5. According to police, the teens are acquainted with the 20-year-old victim. Islamic Center Purchases Norwalk Property For Mosque NORWALK, Conn. - The Al Madany Islamic Center of Norwalk has purchased the former Episcopal Church at 1 Union Park St. for $1.65 million, according to The Hour online.According to the report, the Islamic Center made the purchase after settling a lawsuit with the city in 2014 that alleged the city was discriminatory in denying the group the purchase of a center at 127 Fillow St. The report said that residents of the Union Park Street neighborhood and several politicians rallied against the Islamic Center, which plans to turn the building into a mosque. Coach Of The Week Comes From Westchester A Hudson Valley varsity high school football coach was named the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week, according to a team statement released earlier this week. Westlake High School Coach John Castellano was presented with a $2,000 award and an award ball, according to the Jets. He also has been invited to watch the Jets plan the Tennessee Titans on Dec. 13. Woman, 70, Critically Injured In Crash Into House, Stone Wall STAMFORD, Conn. -- A 70-year-old woman was critically injured Thursday morning after her car struck the porch of a home during a three-car crash on High Ridge Road, according to a report from the Stamford Advocate. In the 7:35 a.m. crash, the woman's Mercedes-Benz veered across traffic and crashed through the porch at 794 Ridge Road and then stuck a stone wall, the Advocate said.
