Gunman Arrested In Roselle Roadway Shootout, Police Say An 18-year-old was arrested in Roselle after gunfire broke out between two vehicles at an intersection on Monday, May 20, authorities said. The two vehicles exchanged gunfire at East Seventh Avenue and Walnut Street, Roselle police said in a release. One vehicle crashed while turning on East Sixth Avenue and a man was witnessed fleeing with a gun in his hand, police said. Secaucus Police Officer Michael Borrelli immediately began CPR when he and Officer Austin C. Hawxhurst arrived and found the unresponsive victim at the Harmon Cove Towers earlier this month, Police Chief Dennis Miller said. Hawxhurst administered a first shock from a defibrillator as he and Borelli continued CPR while awaiting EMTs from nearby Hudson Regional Hospital and paramedics from Jersey City Medical Center, the chief said. At 3:35 p.m., police responded to South 11th Street and South Orange Avenue on a report of shots fired, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. KIPP Rise Academy, a charter school for students from 5th grade to 8th grade, and West Side High School are located minutes from the shooting location.  Police did not locate any gunshot victims, Fragé said.
