High School Athlete Raquel 'Rocky' Elardo, Of Loudoun County, Dies
The death of a Loudoun County high school athlete is sending shock and sadness through the community.
Heritage High School grad and Leesburg resident Raquel "Rocky" Elardo, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, surrounded by her family, her obituary on the Loudoun Funeral Chapel & Crematory website shows. She was 18 years old.
Rocky was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, after a collarbone injury suffered during a basketball game wasn't healing, according to a GoFundMe launched for the Elardos. As it turns out, a tumor was pressing on the bone.

Weekend Warriors: These Drivers Led Police Pursuits Through Stafford Hours Apart, Sheriff Says
Two drivers have been arrested after leading police pursuits through Stafford over the weekend, police said.
The first began around 1:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, and involved a Maryland man named Timothy Clark, 56, was wanted out of Stafford, Prince William, and Fredericksburg, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
The incident involving Clark began when Deputy E.T. Osborn responded to Wawa, located at 9 South Gateway Drive, for a larceny. Staff said a man, later identified as Clark, stole a crate of Marlboro cigarettes.

Arrest Made In Series Of Laundromat Burglaries In Fairfax County
A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of Fairfax County burglaries, police said.
Timothy Mears, of Woodlawn, burglarized multiple laundromats between December 2023 and January 2024, and was identified as a suspect on Feb. 8, county police said.
