Photos: Maywood School District Welcomes Back Alumni MAYWOOD, N.J. — Maywood natives were reunited at Maywood School District's fourth annual Alumni Night on Friday, April 1. The night featured basketball games in the Maywood Avenue School gymnasium, school tours and yearbook signings. At 8:30 p.m. More than 300 alumni came back.  Maywood Alumni Night started in 2005, when the district celebrated the 25th anniversary of its championship basketball team.

Scones, Tea Celebrate End Of 'Downton Abbey' At Garfield Library GARFIELD, N.J. -- The Garfield Friends of the Library will hold a “Farewell Downton Abbey Tea” on Sunday, April 17.Scones, finger sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, and tea will be served. Dr. Claudia Brodhead will speak on “Why Vintage?” and will display examples of period costume and jewelry.  Tickets are $20 and are available at the library or can be purchased over the phone at 201-337-7189. Little Ferry Organizes Dedication Ceremony For New Mural LITTLE FERRY, N.J. -- Little Ferry will host a dedication ceremony for a recently completed mural on the long wall in the library's reference room on Saturday, April 30. The mural was designed and completed by Bill Riedel. He painted the work in five sections, all of which depict historic moments via buildings erected in Little Ferry history since the founding of the borough. Reidel is also responsible for designing the seal for the borough.  The reception will take place at the library from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  The Little Ferry Library is located at 239 Liberty St.

Frisch Students Participate In Math Tournament At Yale PARAMUS, N.J. -- Several Frisch students spent a long Shabbat weekend at Yale University to participate in the Math Majors of America Tournament for High Schools annual competition. The exam was given on a Saturday but thanks to the efforts of a couple of enterprising Yale students, observant day school students were able to take the exam on Sunday.  In the first round of the competition, students worked individually and had 75 minutes to answer twelve questions.
