Elizabeth Man Gets 25 Years For Bludgeoning Woman To Death: Authorities A 34-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to 25 years in state prison on Friday, Sept. 6, after he bludgeoned a woman to death in 2022, authorities said. Newark Man Struck By Vehicle In Linden: Police A 63-year old Newark man was struck by a vehicle in Linden on Tuesday, Sept. 10, authorities said. The crash occurred at midnight on the 1700 block of Route 1, Linden police said in a release. A 2018 Honda CRV was traveling southbound when it collided with the man, police said. The man was treated on scene and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. He is listed in serious condition, police said. No additional injuries were reported, and the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with Investigators, police said.

Newark School Locked Down After Shooting: Police A school in Newark was briefly locked down following a shooting at a gas station on Monday, Sept. 9, authorities said. 11 People Evacuated In East Orange Three-Alarm Fire A three-alarm fire in East Orange caused 11 people to be evacuated on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 7, authorities said. Firefighters responded to 291 Glenwood Ave. at 4:30 p.m. and the fire escalated to three alarms, necessitating additional firefighters to the scene, a spokesperson for the City of East Orange said.
