One Killed, One Wounded In Elizabeth Shooting, Prosecutor Says A 47-year-old man was fatally shot and a 51-year-old man was wounded in an Elizabeth shooting on Sunday, July 7, authorities said. In the early morning, police responded to the 400 block of Westminster Avenue and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said in a release. Jose Aranzamedi was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead while the other victim, a 51-year-old man, is in stable condition at a nearby hospital, authorities said. Grand Jury Declines To Indict Newark Officers In Fatal Shooting A grand jury has decided not to indict Newark police officers who fatally shot a 29-year-old man in May 2023. The grand jury's vote follows an investigation into the shooting death of Everett Rand by the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability. In May 2023, police responded to a 911 call on a shooting in a residence on Johnson Avenue, the State Attorney General's Office said. Home Catches Fire In Bayonne (Developing) Firefighters were on scene of a structure fire in Bayonne on the morning of Tuesday morning, July 9, the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management said. The fire is at West 44th Street and Avenue B, the Bayonne OEM said. Video provided by the OEM shows smoke billowing from the window. People are asked to avoid the area, the OEM said. Newly Minted Millionaire! Powerball Ticket Sold In Warren County Wins Big It was Millionaire Monday in Warren County for one Powerball player in Warren County. A ticket sold in Hackettstown matched five numbers in the Monday, July 8 drawing, winning $1 million. The ticket was sold at Family Food Mart on Route 57. Man Wanted For Guttenberg Robbery Apprehended In Nebraska: Police A 46-year-old Staten Island resident was recently apprehended in Nebraska for a violent robbery he committed in Guttenberg in April, authorities said. In April, officers responded to a report of a robbery at 68th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard East where a victim sustained injuries after being dragged by a pickup truck for a Rolex watch, Guttenberg police said in a release. Man Yelled Racial Slurs In Person's Backyard On July 4, Montgomery Police Say Police in Montgomery are looking for a man who yelled a racial slur at a couple while on their property on the evening of Thursday, July 4. That evening, the couple observed an elderly man in their backyard, Montgomery police said in a release. Jersey City Teens In Stolen Vehicle Ram Into Cop Car, 3rd Bails In Secaucus Police Vehicle Two Jersey City teens were apprehended and one remains at large after being pursued by police while driving a stolen vehicle in Secaucus on the early morning of Monday, July 8, authorities said.
