Lifelong Allendale Resident Sharon Moran Dies, 54 Sharon Moran, a lifelong Allendale resident, died Monday, Aug. 26, according to her obituary on the Vander Plaat Funeral Home website. She was 54 years old. Sharon's obituary remembered her as a dedicated mom to her girls, Brynne and Macie, and worked in financial planning for Fidelity Investments, in Nanuet, NY. Lightning Strike Causes Fire At Turtle Back Zoo, Officials Say A North Jersey zoo erupted in flames after being struck by lightning on Wednesday, Aug. 28, officials said. West Orange responders got a call from the Turtle Back Zoo saying its Sea Turtle Recovery Building had been struck by lightning around 9:45 p.m., a spokesperson for the town said. Firefighters and police officers responded and put out the blaze. Essex County Sherriff officers were on scene as well.

4-Year-Old Drowns In Pond, Found 50 Yards From Family's Monroe Township Home: Police A 4-year-old child drowned in a pond behind a home in Middlesex County on Wednesday, Aug. 27, authorities said. Police were called to a Monroe Township home around 6:50 p.m. for a missing child, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Monroe Township Police Chief Griffin M. Banos said. A search for the 4-year-old ensued. The child was found in a pond 50 yards from the back deck of the family’s home, and wasn’t breathing, police said.  Authorities performed CPR on the child, who was rushed to Princeton Medical Center where they were pronounced dead. Lyndhurst Officer Anthony Morreale was on patrol near Riverside Avenue and Valley Brook Avenue when he saw a moped cruising south on Riverside Avenue without a license plate on Monday, Aug. 26, Lyndhurst Police Detective Lt.
