Huntington Station Woman Accused Of Abandoning Cat Outside Of Closed Animal Hospital A 60-year-old woman is charged with animal abandonment for allegedly leaving her 9-year-old cat at a closed Long Island animal hospital. Darcy Beard, of Huntington Station, is charged with the misdemeanor for driving up to Dix Hills Animal Hospital while it was closed and abandoning her cat, named Lavender Rose, in a cat carrier at the location, according to the Suffolk County SPCA. Hudson Valley Man Indicted After Undercover Investigation Into Child Predators A 32-year-old Hudson Valley resident is facing multiple charges after authorities said he sent sexually-explicit photographs and messages to an undercover officer who was posing as a child. Thomas Szeliga, of the hamlet of Orangeburg in Rockland County, was indicted on one count of second-degree attempted criminal sexual act and one count of first-degree attempted disseminating indecent material to minors, according to authorities. Beloved Katonah Mother Of Three Remembered As Caring Coach, School Volunteer A Westchester County woman known as a devoted mother of three and active member of her church has died from cancer at the age of 65. Deborah Sauerhoff, of Katonah, died while surrounded by family on Friday, July 8, according to her obituary. Sauerhoff lived in Queens until moving to White Plains at the age of 9, her obituary said. Ronald Battaglia, of Stratford, won the prize from Connecticut Lottery's $1,000,000 Golden Riches game, CT Lottery announced on Thursday, July 7. The winning ticket was purchased at Greenwich Cigar & Stationary, which is located at 91 Railroad Ave. in Greenwich, the lottery said. Police Search For Man Accused Of Using Stolen Credit Card At Commack Home Depot Authorities have asked the public for help locating a man who is accused of stealing a credit card and using it at a Home Depot on Long Island. A man stole a wallet containing credit cards from a 1995 Buick parked outside of Speedway in Commack at about 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, according to a report from Suffolk County Crime Stoppers on Monday, July 11. 34-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Inside Vehicle In Westport An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead in a running car in Fairfield County. Police responded to a report of a person lying in the backseat of a running car in Westport in the parking lot of 40 Jesup Road at about 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, according to the Westport Police Department. Lane Closures Announced For Stretch Of Taconic State Parkway In Yorktown State officials announced that single- and double-lane closures are planned for a stretch of the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester County. The New York State Department of Transportation said the lane closures will be between Exit 11 (State Route 134) and Exit 13 (Underhill Avenue) in Yorktown. Officials say the closures are set for 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays beginning Tuesday, July 12, through Saturday, Oct. 29. The closures will be implemented to facilitate bridge painting, according to the announcement.

Officials Announce Planned Temporary Closure Of Sprain Brook Parkway Ramp In Elmsford Officials issued an alert to Westchester County motorists about a planned parkway ramp closure to facilitate guide rail repairs. The New York State Department of Transportation said the ramp from the Sprain Brook Parkway northbound to I-287 westbound in Elmsford is expected to close between midnight and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12. Teens Charged With Robbery In New Rochelle Carjacking Three teenagers are facing robbery charges in a carjacking that happened in Westchester County. Police responded to a report of a carjacking in the area of 969 Main St. in New Rochelle at about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, according to the New Rochelle Police Department. Missing 14-Year-Old Hempstead Girl Found Shortly after an alert was issued about a missing 14-year-old girl from Long Island, police reported she has been located. Kimberlyn Cornejo-Reyes had last been seen at her Hempstead home at about 2 a.m. on Monday, July 11, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
