Driver Killed In Head-On Crash In Nassau County A man was killed in a head-on crash on Long Island. It happened in Massapequa at 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9, according to the Nassau County Police Department.  A Hyundai Sonata, driven by the victim, a 75-year-old, was traveling north on Carmans Road near Bailey Drive when the car was involved in the crash with a Honda Civic, NCPD said. Police said the man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The driver of the Honda, a 33-year-old woman, suffered a possible broken leg and is in stable condition, police said. New York Woman Claims $1 Million Lottery Prize A New York woman has claimed a $1 million lottery prize. Harley Daguillo, of Berne in Albany County, won the top prize from the New York Lottery’s Holiday Magic scratch-off ticket, the NY Lottery reported.  She received her prize as a single lump-sum payment of $651,000 after required withholdings. The ticket was purchased at Stewart’s Shops, located in Albany County at 2475 Delaware Turnpike, in Voorheesville, NY Lottery said.

High School Student In Hudson Valley Dies After Brave Battle With Cancer A Hudson Valley high school student who lived in Connecticut has died at the age of 16 after he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Matthew Dooley died at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 5, following his battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor, according to his obituary. Town Employee In Suffolk Arraigned For Stealing Property An employee of a Long Island town was arraigned after authorities said he stole and sold town property worth thousands of dollars. Robert Chura, age 29, of Selden, was arraigned on Thursday, Jan. 6, after he was accused of stealing tools from the Town of Huntington and selling them, according to an announcement from Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney.
