SPCA Investigates Animal Sacrifice After Decapitated Goats, Chickens Found In Melville An animal sacrifice investigation is underway after the remains of five decapitated chickens and two decapitated goats were found on the side of a Long Island road. The Suffolk County SPCA received an alert from the Suffolk County Police Department on Sunday, Sept. 11, that dead animals were found in black plastic garbage bags in Melville, the SPCA reported. The remains were found on the side of Round Swamp Road about 100 feet south of Exit 39 of the Northern State Parkway, according to the report. New York Man Wins $5 Million Scratch-Off Prize A New York man has claimed a $5 million lottery prize. Carlos Torrelino, of Elmhurst, Queens, won a top prize from the X Series: 100X scratch-off game, New York Lottery announced on Monday, Aug. 29. He received his prize as a single, lump-sum payment of $3,255,000 after required withholdings, NY Lottery said. The winning ticket was purchased at Gorkha Mini Mart, which is located at 85-42 Grand Ave. in Elmhurst, the lottery said.

Police Nab Wanted Man In Hudson Valley After Report Of Suspicious Person Authorities in the Hudson Valley arrested a wanted man after responding to a report of a suspicious person. Police in Ulster County responded to a report of a suspicious person on Oak Street in Barclay Heights in the town of Saugerties at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, the Saugerties Police Department reported. Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Driving Drunk At More Than Twice Legal Limit A 22-year-old Hudson Valley man is accused of driving while intoxicated at more than two times the legal limit. Troopers pulled a vehicle over on I-87 in the Albany County town of Bethlehem for vehicle and traffic violations at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, New York State Police said. Police said the driver, identified as Rockland County resident Cristian Agualema, of New City, was found to be intoxicated. Carlos Moran Jr., of Deer Park, won his prize after matching the first five numbers selected in the Monday, June 13, Powerball drawing, the New York Lottery said. Body Of 58-Year-Old Man Found Floating In Water At Jones Beach, Police Report An investigation is underway after the body of a 58-year-old man was found floating in the water at Jones Beach. The Nassau County Police Marine Bureau responded to a report of a body in the water at the west end of the beach in Wantagh at about 6:20 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, the Nassau County Police Department said.
