Dutchess High School Ranks Among State's Best
RED HOOK, N.Y. -- Red Hook Senior High School was ranked by Niche as among the best high schools in New York.Niche, a Pittsburgh-based company that ranks schools and colleges across the country, compiled the list of top public high schools from more than 1,200 such facilities in the state.
Niche ranks schools in areas like academics, teachers, student culture and diversity and resources and facilities, according to the company's website.
More than 30 spots on top 100 list went to schools in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess counties.

Patterson Man Stabbed In Head With Knife During Assault, Sheriff Says
PATTERSON, N.Y. -- A 41-year-old man is facing a first-degree assault charge after stabbing a man in the head with a knife, authorities said Friday, Dec. 11.
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith said the alleged assault occurred late Wednesday in the victim's apartment on Route 311.
Victor Manuel Molina-Alfado, 41, was arrested at the apartment about 10:15 p.m. after police responded to a reported disturbance and found him "unconscious from apparent alcohol intoxication." The victim, 21, was also in the apartment, bleeding from the head, police said.
