After 10 years working at cake shops across the region, Bergen County's Lori Lupardi is opening one of her own. Lupardi, 28, has fond memories of baking with her mother and grandmother, particularly around holidays growing up in Closter. In her junior and senior years at Northern Valley Demarest, Lupardi had a baking internship in Dumont and was looking at colleges, when her mom pointed out she could go to school for baking. County-Owned Rescue Truck Collides With SUV In Front Of Hackensack Fire Department
A crash involving a county-owned rescue truck and a Toyota SUV closed a Hackensack street Wednesday morning, Aug. 7. The crash happened right outside of the city's fire station on State Street around 10:30 a.m. The truck involved in the crash, often used for water rescues, was returning from a call when the incident happened, Hackensack Police Capt. A crash shut two lanes of Route 21 Wednesday morning, Aug. 7 in Clifton. The accident happened at in the southbound lanes, south of Exit 10 to Brook Avenue around 6:30 a.m., but the roadway remained closed an hour later. Injuries were reported.

Three juveniles are facing charges after leading a police pursuit across multiple Bergen County towns, ending in a collision involving a police car, authorities said. Trouble began around 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 in Paramus, when officers were called to a Concord Drive home on reports of people wearing ski masks and dark clothing trying to steal a BMW from the driveway, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. Police have released additional information in this week's drownings in a Camden County lake. Officers were called to Penbryn Wildlife Management area for two missing swimmers around 2:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, Winslow Township Police Chief Donald Lemons said. A witness told police his two friends, ages 23 and 24, went swimming in the lake and did not resurface.
