Man Extradited To Face Murder Charge In Shooting Of Former North Bellport Neighbor, Police Say A man is facing a murder charge in the drive-by shooting of a former neighbor on Long Island. Shati Smith, age 28, of North Bellport, was arrested in Newport News, Virginia, on a warrant issued in Suffolk County on Tuesday, June 21, police previously reported. He was extradited to New York on Wednesday, Aug. 3, the Suffolk County Police Department said. 14-Year-Old Airlifted After Being Struck By Car In Valley Stream A 14-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was struck by a car while riding a bicycle on Long Island. The crash happened at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, in Valley Stream, the Nassau County Police Department reported. A 2013 Honda Accord that was traveling north on Mill Road struck the boy while he was attempting to cross from the west side to the east side of Mill Road at Roosevelt Avenue, police said. Longtime Local Police Officer In CT Killed In Crash Just Days After Retiring A 24-year veteran of a local Connecticut police department was killed in a crash just two days after he retired. Man Sentenced For Wrong-Way DWI Crash That Killed 74-Year-Old In Oakdale A 57-year-old man was sentenced for driving while intoxicated on Long Island and getting into a head-on crash that killed a 74-year-old man.
