Unknown Person Approaches Teenage Girl Outside Of Fairfield County Home, Police Say Police are investigating an incident in Fairfield County where an unknown individual approached a teenage girl late at night as she entered her vehicle outside of her home. Officers responded at about 11:45 p.m. on Friday, July 30, in Darien to the area of Glenvale Avenue and Christie Hill Road. The person's vehicle was parked on the street in front of the teen's home, Darien Police said.  When the individual walked toward the teen, she was able to drive off without further incident, according to police. Duo Nabbed After Firearm, Heroin Seized In Western Mass, Police Say Two Western Massachusetts men are facing charges after police seized a loaded firearm and 91 bags of heroin.  The Springfield Police Department said the drugs and the firearm were seized at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 31.  Police said 25-year-old Anthony Ayala and 27-year-old Maurice Bailey, both of Springfield, were arrested on Summit Street.  The men are facing a number of gun and drug charges, authorities said.

Robert Tomo, age 35, of Freeport, was arrested just before 9 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Mosquitoes With West Nile Virus Found In Westchester Two batches of mosquitos carrying West Nile Virus have been discovered in Westchester County, according to the county health department. Health officials reported that the mosquitos were found in Mount Vernon. Four Wanted For Stealing From Long Island Target, Police Say Police are asking the public for help locating and identifying four people accused of stealing merchandise from a Long Island Target. Blood Drives To Be Held In NY In Effort To Save 4-Year-Old Boy With Leukemia A number of blood drives are being held in the area this month in the hope of saving a Long Island 4-year-old with leukemia.  Nassau County resident Ayden Paredes, of Glen Cove, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Feb. 7 of 2021, according to Mark Paredes, Ayden's father.  Ayden has been receiving chemotherapy treatments and blood transfusions since then, but doctors are now saying he needs a blood stem cell/bone marrow transplant to save his life, Mark said.
