Don't Fall For Them: Police In Connecticut Issue Alert About These Scams Connecticut State Police issued an alert to residents about common cryptocurrency scams. Police shared the alert on Tuesday, Aug. 30, saying scammers often use texts, phone calls, or emails to lure victims to cryptocurrency ATMs, web-based investment sites or exchange platforms to get them to convert dollars into cryptocurrency. Montgomery County resident Valerie Kevlin, of Amsterdam, claimed a top prize from the lottery's X Series: 20X game, NY Lottery announced on Tuesday, Aug. 30. Suspect Nabbed After Riverhead Restaurant Burglary A 42-year-old man is accused of smashing a Long Island restaurant's glass front door with a brick and stealing a bottle of tequila. The burglary happened at the Craft'd Restaurant and Bar, located at 127 East Main St. in Riverhead, at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, the Riverhead Town Police Department said. Police announced on Tuesday, Aug. 30, that Tramaine Gonzalez, of Riverhead, was arrested in the case and charged with third-degree burglary. Gonzalez was arraigned and held at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility, police said.

School District In Hudson Valley Welcomes 28 New Teachers A Hudson Valley school district is kicking off the school year by welcoming 28 new teachers.
