Real Dolls: Stamford Kids Showing Off Fashions From American Girl STAMFORD, Conn. -- A group of local Stamford girls will be transformed into their favorite American Girl dolls for a fashion show at the Stamford Hilton Hotel. The American Girl Doll Fashion Show will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, with Stamford girls Savannah, Lucy and Miranda and others modeling the contemporary fashions for girls and their dolls.  The event will benefit "Dance for All." Bethel Historical Society Receives $70K State Grant BETHEL, Conn. — The state Department of Economic and Community Department has awarded a grant of nearly $70,000 to the Bethel Historical Society. The Bethel Historical Society was one of 20 nonprofit organizations that sponsor cultural and historic sites to earn a grant. The 20 grants to nonprofit groups from the DECD total about $1.99 million . The funding ranges from $50,000 to $125,000. Route 106 In Wilton Named To Honor Bomber Pilot Hero From World War II WILTON, Conn. — A hero bomber pilot from the Battle of Normandy in World War II was recently recognized in his hometown of Wilton, when a portion of State Route 106 was renamed in his honor. The ceremony was held at Old Town Hall in Wilton, led by state Rep. Gail Lavielle, according to the Hour website.  The official name is “Air Force First Lieutenant Charles M. Baffo Memorial Highway,” in honor of the U.S. Army Air Force veteran who died Oct. 17, 2014, at the age of 92. ALS Fundraising Walk Returning To Walkway Over The Hudson HIGHLAND, N.Y. -- The 6th annual Hudson Valley Walk to defeat ALS will be held Sunday at the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. Check in starts at 9 a.m. while the walk starts at 10:30 a.m. The distance for the walk is 3 miles. Since the walk started in 2009, it has raised more than $852,000 and in 2014 it had 2,000 walkers raised more then $346,000 toward the cause.
