Wilton Historical Society Receives $125K State Grant WILTON, Conn. — The state Department of Economic and Community Department has awarded a grant of $125,000 to the Wilton Historical Society. The Wilton Historical Society was one of 20 nonprofit organizations that sponsor cultural and historic sites to earn a grant. The 20 grants to nonprofit groups from the DECD total about $1.99 million . The funding ranges from $50,000 to $125,000. Road Work Scheduled In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- Starting Oct. 13, the Westport Public Works Department will be milling and paving, weather permitting, area streets through early November, Residents are advised to park off street while the work is being completed. Notice will be posted 24 hours in advance. The roads are: Sasco Creek Road, Wakeman Place, Baker Avenue, Thomas Road, Wild Rose Road, Cunningham Place, Cross Highway (between Main Street and Compo Road), Red Coat Road (from Cavalry Road to dead end), Panhandle Lane, Stony Brook Road, Indian Point Lane, Pequot Trail, Bermuda Road, and Surf Road.

The price of the gently used clothing ranges from $1 to $5. Proceeds will go toward causes supported by Jesse Lee's Methodist Church.

Abnormally Dry Conditions Cited For Westchester WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The National Weather Service in New York has said Westchester County is suffering from drought conditions. There are abnormally dry and moderate dry conditions throughout the state, and conditions are being monitored on a daily basis, the service said. During the last seven days, warmer and drier weather has prevailed in the region. Area officials have issued a drought watch and are asking residents to conserve water as much as possible.
