Bergen County Sheriff Speaks To Paramus Rotary Club PARAMUS, N.J. -- Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino was the guest speaker at the Paramus Rotary Club meeting on Thursday, March 31. Saudino discussed the consolidation of the County Police Department into the Sheriff's Department. A measure he says could save up to $200 million over 20 years.  The sheriff also discussed topics like the recent string of bomb threats at area schools and the Westfield Garden State Plaza “gunman” event. Saudino became sheriff in 2011. He spent nine years as the chief of police in Emerson prior to becoming sheriff.

Stamford Police Charge 73-Year-Old Man With Bank Robbery STAMFORD, Conn. -- A 73-year-old Stamford man was charged with robbing a bank on Shippan Ave. on Thursday morning, according to the Stamford Advocate.  Authorities tracked Thomas Genovese down at his home in Regency Heights after a description of his older model green Volvo was given People's Bank.
