Ridgefield Woman Finds Bear On Porch RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- A Ridgefield woman was surprised to find a bear visiting her screened-in porch on Monday night, according to the Ridgefield Press. Anne McDermott of Topstone Drive heard the noise at 11:30 p.m. and found the bear eating from a bag of birdseed, the Press said. East Rutherford BOE Honors Teacher Judy Ackermann EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Former East Rutherford Teacher Judy Ackermann was honored at the inaugural Roll of Honors Award ceremony at a recent Board of Education meeting.Ackermann, a teacher at both Faust and McKenzie Schools during her 15 years in East Rutherford until her passing, was awarded the recognition by interim Superintendent Joseph Abate. Bruce Ackermann, Judy’s husband, accepted the commemorative plaque, another of which hangs in the lobby of Faust School.  Gina Pappas, a teacher at Faust School, honored Ackermann at the ceremony.
