Ridgefield Woman Finds Bear On Porch RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- A Ridgefield woman was surprised to find a bear visiting her screened-in porch on Monday night, according to the Ridgefield Press. Anne McDermott of Topstone Drive heard the noise at 11:30 p.m. and found the bear eating from a bag of birdseed, the Press said. Bergenfield Students Collect 'Pennies For Patients' BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Students at Franklin School in Bergenfield participated in "Random Acts of Kindness Week" in February. Students were encouraged to think about and demonstrate ways in which they can display kindness towards others.  In addition to various classroom activities and lessons, students also participated in the “Pennies for Patients” program and collected spare change to support individuals battling leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
