New Research Reveals Potential Connection Between Sleep And Weight Loss A new study has found a potential correlation between sleeping habits and weight loss. Researchers studied a group of 80 adults who are overweight and typically sleep less than six and a half hours per night, according to the report published on Monday, Feb. 7, by JAMA Internal Medicine. During the study, the participants who were chosen to sleep for eight and a half hours for two weeks "significantly reduced their daily energy intake by approximately 270 kcal compared with the control group." The travel website ranked Delamar Southport 22nd in its 2021 list of the top hotels in the country.  The luxury hotel is located at 275 Old Post Road in Southport. The hotel features a spa and a restaurant serving farm-to-table dishes. Delamar Southport also has suites that are equipped with a fireplace, kitchen and living room area. Officials Advise Motorists To Expect Lane Closures On Cross County Parkway In Westchester The New York State Department of Transportation has advised motorists to expect lane closures on the Cross County Parkway in Westchester. Officials said the closures are set to take place in the eastbound and westbound lanes between Exit 2 (Yonkers Avenue) and Exit 6 (Bronx River Parkway) in Yonkers from Monday, Feb. 14 through Friday, Feb. 18. Suffolk County Man Charged After Search Warrant Uncovers 'Ghost Guns,' Police Say A 34-year-old Long Island man was charged after police said a search warrant uncovered multiple loaded "ghost guns" in his home. Samuel Schindler, of Central Islip, was arrested on Saturday, Feb. 5, after a search warrant was executed at his home on Tamarack Street, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. Police searched the residence and found two loaded handguns, a 9mm and a 40 caliber, authorities said. Police Search For Man Accused Of Stealing $4K Worth Of Cash, Electronics In Suffolk County Authorities are searching for a man accused of stealing $4,300 worth of cash and electronics from a Long Island kiosk. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers reported that the items and cash were stolen from Cellaxs Phone Repair, located at the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station, at about 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23. Authorities said the man had a "life and death" tattoo on his left forearm. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
