Uniondale Man Sentenced For Attempted Murder Of Four Nassau County Police Members A Long Island man was sentenced for attempting to murder four police officers following a traffic stop. Duane Costa, age 40, of Uniondale, was sentenced on Thursday, Jan. 27, to 25 years to life in prison in the 2018 incident, according to Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. Police Seek Public's Help Finding Missing Suffolk County Man Police have asked the public for help locating a Long Island man who was leaving his home more than a week ago. Suffolk County Woman Accused Of Leaving Dog Outside In Sub-Freezing Temperatures A Long Island woman was charged with animal cruelty after an animal welfare organization reported she left her 12-year-old dog outside in sub-freezing temperatures overnight. Holly Acker, age 42, was charged on Saturday, Jan. 22, with one count of animal cruelty and one count of violating the Suffolk County Code, according to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
