About 100 Afghan Students To Attend College In Hudson Valley About 100 students are set to relocate from Afghanistan to continue their studies at a Hudson Valley college. Bard College, located in Dutchess County, announced plans to accept nearly 100 students from the American University of Afghanistan in Kabul at its Annandale, Simon's Rock and Berlin campuses. The college said 70 students were accepted to the Annandale and Simon's Rock campuses so far. Five students have arrived, and more students are set to arrive in mid-January. Long Island Woman Sentenced For Conspiring To Distribute Drugs, Firearm Possession A Long Island woman was sentenced for conspiring to distribute drugs, including fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Amber Schatz, age 33, of Wading River, was sentenced on Thursday, Dec. 9, to 10 years in prison, according to Breon Peace, United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York. CT Man Claims $10K Lottery Prize A Connecticut man is celebrating after he claimed a $10,000 lottery prize.  Jerry Cooney, of Hartford, used $20 to purchase some lottery tickets at Manousos Wine & Liquors in Wethersfield on Friday, Nov. 17, according to Connecticut Lottery.  When his winning "iHeart Radio Concert Cash" ticket was scanned at the store, an employee congratulated him, CT Lottery said.
