Police Investigating After Shots Fired At Vehicle In Nassau County Police are asking the public for information after shots were fired into a vehicle on Long Island. According to the Nassau County Police Department, the incident happened in Uniondale at about 4 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17. Fairfield County Man Sentenced For Tax Evasion A Fairfield County man has been sentenced for evading paying more than $141,000 in taxes. Michael Monroe, age 48, of Norwalk, was sentenced on Friday, Oct. 15, to six months in prison and six months of home confinement, according to Leonard Boyle, acting United States attorney for the District of Connecticut. Monroe was also sentenced to three years of supervised release and 90 hours of community service. One Killed In Hit-Run Crash On Long Island Expressway Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a man on the Long Island Expressway overnight. The two-vehicle crash happened in Brentwood at about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. A 2016 Kia Optima was traveling west in the right lane on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 53, when the rear of the car was struck by a 2008 Honda Accord, police said. Cat Found Shot On Long Island An animal welfare organization is asking the public for information after a cat was shot and found suffering from serious injuries on Long Island.  The cat was discovered in the area of Southfields Road and West Lane in Aquebogue on Monday, Oct. 11, according to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
