Long Island May Soon Be Getting A New Area Code The New York State Public Service Commission is proposing a new area code on Long Island, according to a new report. CBS New York reported that the commission wants public feedback on the petition for a new area code in Nassau County. The petition was due to a projection that there will not be any available 516 numbers by the end of 2023.  The commission said existing phone numbers won't be impacted by the change, the news station reported. CBS New York said those who want to provide public comments must submit them online or by mail by the end of the year.

'Person In Crisis' Located In Northern Westchester, Police Say Police said they have located a person who was in crisis following a domestic incident in Westchester County. The North Castle Police Department issued an alert on Wednesday, Oct. 13, saying officers had searched the Windmill area for one of the people involved in a domestic incident who was in a personal crisis. Police said after searching the area, the person was found and taken for appropriate care. Authorities said there is no concern for the safety of area residents.  North Castle Police did not provide further details about the incident.
