Ohio Man Charged With Fleeing Police On Taconic State Parkway
TAGHKANIC, N.Y. -- A man from Cleveland, Ohio was arrested by New York State Police for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle stop on Thursday, Feb. 4, police said.
Troopers flagged a Ford Taurus on the Taconic State Parkway for speeding. The driver, Christopher T. Kubin, 29, stopped his car in the lane of travel and was directed to pull onto the shoulder, police report.
Kubin failed to comply with the officer’s orders, left the scene, then crossed through the center median of the parkway and started traveling northbound, police said.

Monroe Library Yarn Crafters Knitting, Crocheting For A Cause
MONROE, Conn. -- The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library is looking for experienced yarn crafters to create chemo caps, comfort shawls and other needed items for those in treatment at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
The library will host a gathering for the yarn crafters, “Knit & Crochet for a Cause,” on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m.
Participants can bring their knitting needles, crochet hooks and yarn, and the library will provide a selection of patterns.
There are no set requirements, but St. Vincent's has requested items in colors and patterns suitable for men.

Chelsea Piers In Stamford Hosting Gymnastics Meet This Weekend
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Chelsea Piers Connecticut and Chelsea Piers New York are partnering to host the third annual Winter Challenge gymnastics competition.
The meet, which features events for both boys and girls, will take place this weekend, Feb. 13 and 14, at Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford.
Events are slated to run from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both days.
The girls’ meet will take place in the field house, while the boys’ competition will be held in the gymnastics facility.
Athletes from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New Hampshire will be included.
