Suffolk County Restaurant Closes Due To Pandemic Hardship, Staff Shortages A Long Island restaurant has closed its doors after five years in business. Swell Taco, which was located in Suffolk County in Patchogue, made the decision to close after a difficult year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic and staff shortages, the owners announced in an Instagram post on Monday, Sept. 27. The family-owned restaurant was located at 30 East Main St. in Patchogue. The Babylon location will remain open, the owners said. "Thank you to all our amazing customers and the town of Patchogue for all the love and support these past 5 years!" the restaurant owners said.

Duo Nabbed After Attempted Nassau County Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of Firearm, Police Say Two men were arrested after an attempted traffic stop on Long Island led to a pursuit and the discovery of a loaded firearm, police said. Officers attempted to pull a vehicle over in the parking lot of Coliseum Motor Inn in East Meadow at about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, according to the Nassau County Police Department. NCPD said the vehicle slowed down, and a man got out of the passenger side door and ran away as the vehicle drove away. Authorities Search For Man Accused Of Committing Lewd Act In Suffolk County Authorities are asking the public for help locating and identifying a man accused of committing a lewd act on Long Island. On Thursday, Sept. 23, at about 8:40 a.m., a 911 caller reported that a man in a dark-colored sedan was committing a lewd act on Division Street in Holtsville, according to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers. "The suspect was described as white or Hispanic, in his 20s, with dark hair and facial hair," Suffolk County Crime Stoppers reported. Authorities are offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-220-TIPS.

Michael Santiago, age 45, of Poughkeepsie, was pronounced dead following the crash that happened on Route 44 in Pleasant Valley, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
